The Big Shred 2022!

Join in and help save over 350,000 trees in 2022 – that’s the equivalent of 1200 football pitches of trees!

Did you know over 237 million trees are used in paper production every year in the UK? The trees needed to produce this amount would cover about 21,000 square km – roughly the size of Wales.

At Datashredders for every tonne of paper we shred and recycle, we save

0
Trees
0
Gallons of Water
0KWH
Electricity
0
Cubic yards of landfill
0
Gallons of Oil

That’s over 300,000 trees every year!

Datashredders’ own celebrity driver Trucker Tim took his truck to Ayscoughfee Hall School in Spalding to show some very excited children how wastepaper is shredded!

The children have been learning about recycling in class and watched a demonstration of how paper is shredded, before finding out that the shredded paper is recycled and made into toilet roll!

Each child took a fridge magnet away with them with a list of items they can recycle at home.

This year we have set our sights even higher to reach our target of 350,000 trees and you can get involved!

We are working with businesses, local schools and households to raise aware of data security and recycling and will be supporting the Woodland Trust as part of our campaign.

For every extra football pitch worth of trees saved, we will donate £10 to help fund tree planting and forest conservation projects across the UK.

Get involved!

Shredding your commercial confidential waste will help us reach our target and could even help support your organisation’s sustainability objectives. For every tonne of paper/collection we recycle, we will issue you with a certificate you can share with your employees and customers.

Get involved at home

Our qualified teams collect from homes and businesses and so if you are having a clear out or working from home, we can collect from your doorstep.

Ayscoughfee Hall School recycling day

A Datashredders truck visited Ayscoughfee Hall School in Spalding to give a demonstration on how paper is shredded and talk to the students about recycling.

The children were very excited as we collected paper waste from their school, and they were intrigued to see it go in the big machine and come out shredded!

The shredded paper was then sent off to UK paper mills for recycling into toilet roll.

After learning lots about recycling the children were all given a fridge magnet with a list of items they can recycle at home, plus stickers to put next to each item on the list as they recycle them.
